Opifex is an entity, difficult to limit to the boundaries of a genre, its roots originating within various dark and heavy musical styles, seamlessly united in the realm of avant-garde and progressive metal – Its members coming from different backgrounds to unite experiences under the name Opifex on the road to perfection. The journey through the dark began in early 2011, and has carried Opifex through various conquests at local events, placing the band firmly on the Latvian metal stage. Opifex consists of four on-stage members: Arturs – vocals, Jurgis – guitars and vocals, Matiss – bass, and Edvards – drums. The expressive performances are enhanced by post-apocalyptic steam-punk influenced elements and body art, all done by the band’s fifth off-stage member – Karolina. During the past nine months, while simultaneously composing new material, Opifex has been working on its first full length album, where everything from recording, mixing and mastering to the graphic design is being done entirely by the members themselves at the self-made rehearsal space.
