THIS WICKED CHILD LAY IN SHALLOW, CROWDED GRAVES
Watain crawled out from Satan's cunt in 1998. Concieved out of the will to take the members previous musical attempts to a higher level, the band quickly established itself as a hard-working underground phenomena of most sinister kind. About a year later, a 7" EP entitled "The Essence of Black Purity" was released on Swedish Grim Rune Productions. This eminent piece of Black/Death Metal madness was the opening of the first gate, and with torch and dagger Watain proudly entered the Temple of Abomination.

THE COMING OF RABID DEATH
The EP circled through the dimly lit vaults and catacombs of the underground and eventually found it’s way to the french label Drakkar Productions, who offered Watain a record-deal for two fullength albums.
Much material had already been written, and shortly after the deal had been signed the band entered the chambers of Necromorbus Studio -used for all Watain recordings even to this day- to record their much praised debutalbum.”Rabid Death's Curse”, a release of relentless Black/Death Metal lunacy, was received with a roar of appreciation from the worldwide underground. The impact of the album together with the member’s merciless devotion to their creation elevated the band to the higher realms of the underground metal hierarchy in a quick pace, and this only three years after the band formed. Truly a proof of that will alone can alter the course of mountains!

BLOOD RITUALS
Following the release of the debut album, Watain began to hit the European stages with full force, performing together with bands such as Rotting Christ, Dark Funeral, Mortuary Drape, Antaeus, Mutiilation etc. It didn’t take long until the band had gained a vast reputation or their intense, ritualized live-performances embodying every aspect of traditional Black/Death Metal sorcery; violent ceremonies of blood, fire, death and magic. The first complete European crusade – the Black War Tour- was done in early 2002.

THE BURNING DAWN
In the sixth month of the third year, WATAIN begun the recording of their second fullength album, which after three years of composing finally had grown into it's full abominable shape. The end result became "Casus Luciferi" (Transl. "The fall/descension of Lucifer"), an epic monument of magical Black Metal. Casus Luciferi has since it’s release been hailed as one of the most relevant underground Black Metal albums of the new millenia. An album proudly revealing the horrifying glory of the true, dangerous and by many shunned Black Metal legacy, without a hint of irony, doubt or uncertainty.
At the same time as the release of the album, the "Stellar Descension Infernal” Tour is done throughout Europe together with Secrets of the Moon (ger) and Averse Sefira (us).
The vinyl version of the album is done by Norma Evangelium Diaboli, to which Watain has now sworn allegiance. N.E.D is an alliance of Black Metal orchestras that wish to alienate themselves from the shallow-minded hypocrisy of what the average person thinks Black Metal to be. An alienation made in favour of strong spiritual values, true sinister will and genuine artistry carried out in the name of the great Adversary.

BLACK HORIZONS
In the fourth year of the third millenia Watain continously strike Europe’s stages with exlusive performances in Czech Republic, Italy, England and Scandinavia, building further upon their now global reputation as one of the most passionate and eye-opening liveacts of extreme Metal. When the darkness of winter begins to fall upon the trembling plains of Europe, the band embarks on a two month long tour together with the reborn Death Metal legends Dissection, marching victoriously through eighteen countries as one of the most sinister and powerful tour-packages ever to haunt the metal world.

INTO THE STARLESS NIGHT
After the tour Watain enters a phase of silence and secrecy, until finally in 2007, when the leeves can no longer hold the flood of darkness. With the combined force of four labels releasing the album in different territories of the world, Watain and Norma Evangelium Diaboli brings about the immense discharge of Magic and Death, which name came to be “Sworn to the Dark”. And as if held back for a thousand years, this beast of an album is set free and storms through the stagnant and grey metal-world like a blizzard of fire, iron and blood, leaving none unharmed.


FUCK THE WORLD
Along with the release of Sworn to the Dark, Watain embarks on the Fuck the World tour, beginning with a European leg together with the legendary Celtic Frost. After that both North and South America are struck by the forces of evil, for the first time having a real Black Metal band upon their shores. Not since Venom and WASP have the American fans and media reacted in such a strong way to a Metal band, and the tour turns out to be a great victory. As the hungry black metal legions of America are left breathless, Watain returns to Europe and finish off the year with the Storm of the Antichrist Tour, paying their first ever visit to Serbia among other countries.

TO THE DEATH
During 2008 Watain will focus on weaving and forging what is to become their fourth fullength album, an album that shall drag Black Metal even further down the abyss. Many other projects including a number of exclusive concerts shall be carried out during the year as well.

REQUIEM
In a scene of countless carbon copies and soulless attempts to evoke the majesty of the ancient black/death metal legacy, Watain stand solemn, alien, watching from the shadows, in genuine victorious sincerity. Knowing that the black diamond throne of Black and Death Metal belongs to those few that manage to handle, to know and to become one with it’s abominable essence, which truly is none other than Satan; the fire of the will and the old enemy of the world as we know it.
