C.O.P. UK (Crimes Of Passion) hail from the industrial heartland city of Sheffield in the North of England. Since their inception in 2005, they have developed into the World Class melodic-metal band that they are today!
According to some, a crime of passion is often referred to as "temporary insanity", which could well describe the C.O.P. UK musicians: Dale - Vocals, Charles - Guitar, Darren - Guitar, Thickhead - Bass, Kev - Drums, who are dedicated to making a name for themselves in today’s music scene by taking on a work schedule that is usually meant for internationally established acts.
One of C.O.P. UK’s biggest supporters has been legendary Saxon vocalist Biff Byford, who guest-appeared on their second album “To Die For” (available in Japan via Marquee/Avalon, and in the UK, Europe and the USA via The Global Music Group). Biff liked the band and their music so much that he invited them to tour mainland Europe for 5 weeks as the main support on Saxon’s 2011 summer dates, including appearances at festivals in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany and Austria alongside the likes of Arch Enemy, Accept, Cradle of Filth and Amon Amarth).
“To Die For” was produced, recorded and mixed by Charlie Bauerfeind, (Helloween, Blind Guardian, Hammerfall, Motörhead) at Blind Guardian’s “Twilight Hall” studio in Germany, “Orion” studio (UK), and completed at Andi Deris of Helloween’s “Mi Sueño” studio on Tenerife.
C.O.P. UK songs are a blend of styles that captures the technical intensity and power of modern heavy metal productions with a love for stadium rock choruses. A German magazine once described the band as sounding like ‘Avenged Sevenfold with Bruce Dickinson singing’, while at the same time fans of Sheffield icons Def Leppard will hear their influences proudly displayed within the C.O.P. UK musical horizons.
In October 2011, C.O.P. UK performed live in the UK and Europe once again; firstly with Mike Tramp (vocalist of the 80’s legends White Lion), followed by 4 more weeks in Europe and Scandinavia supporting Saxon and Anvil. The year was brought to a close with a hometown show at Sheffield Academy together with Saxon and Hammerfall.
By 2012 C.O.P. UK (Crimes Of Passion) was mentioned on Metal Hammer UK’s “Ones to watch” list, while also playing prestigious festivals such as the Wacken Open Air, Metalcamp in Slovenia, and Bloodstock Open Air in the UK.
In September 2012, C.O.P. UK were personally chosen by Blackie Lawless to support W.A.S.P. on their 12 date UK tour including a ‘sold-out’ show at the “HMV Forum” in London.
Early 2013 will see the release of a new 4 track EP, followed by album No.3 later this year.
The songs are written, the producer is on-board, shows are booked and some very important announcements are to be made….stay tuned to C.O.P. UK!
