Wacken plans Foundation for the Promotion of Rock and Metal

Since 2004 the W:O:A promotes German and international newcomers.
By staging the Metal Battle, taking place for the 4th time this year, we offer bands the chance to participate in the biggest metal fight of their lives.
The glorious winners can look forward to not only win recognition but to also enter the honourable halls of Wacken Records and to record their first studio album.

The Metal Battle is, since its launch in 2004, a noncommercial event which is solely intended to offer a platform for talented bands. This will not change in the future – we will continue to invest further instead of making money out of it.

But we do not stop there!
Wacken plans to formalise this promotion by launching a unique foundation. The aim of this foundation is to promote young bands and artists of the rock and metal scene.

The bands will receive help in the form of training as well as financially (eg scholarships, reimbursement of travel costs etc.) and will be supported during concerts and tours. Musicians who are in dire straits will also be backed up.

Young bands liven up the metal scene and reshape it. This is why we want to promote them a great deal better in the future. And you can be part of this!

This year you have the possiblity to eg donate your plastic cup refund to the W:O:A or to show your solidarity with the young vanguard of metal by wearing the new „I am a Metal Battle Supporter“ T-shirt.

Furthermore you can purchase a so-called „Wacken Stone“ and thereby become part of the Wacken Wall which will be built out of all sold stones on the festival grounds.

The money raised through the sale of stones, T-shirts and plastic cup refunds will completely be used as a donation for the launch of the „Wacken Foundation“.

No matter if you are metalheads, sponsors, bands or companies in the music industry – you can all help to lay the cornerstone for something big. Besides, material donations (instruments, stage tech etc.), advertising partners for the Metal Battle website, and bands as well as venues for benefit concerts are always needed.
