ACCOMPANYING PERSONS
The Wacken Open Air takes place on a field. This field can become muddy as soon as it rains. Also at other places it might be necessary that you need help. Please choose your escort in a way that they can help you, for example if you are stuck in the mud with your wheelchair. The accompanying person should be strong enough.
AIDS AND BAGS REGISTRATION
It is absolutely necessary that the need for aids, marking labels for bags/backpacks, medication according to the BtMG (only in connection with a medical certificate) and the need for liquid oxygen are registered with Alsterarbeit in advance.
Please register for this via: wacken@alsterarbeit.de
Please note the following rules when registering:
1. wheelchairs, walkers, crutches or canes for the blind do not have to be registered. Insulin and adrenaline pens are also excluded from this rule.
2. aids such as pushing and pulling devices, handbikes, battery-powered support systems and all other attachments, must be registered and marked.
3. no self-made aids will be allowed. (Example: gasoline-powered tiller as wheelchair traction device).
4. the registered aids and bags can be released and marked at the service point of Alsterarbeit, on the camping ground "L" - Wheels of Steel Area. Afterwards you can move freely with it on the whole festival area.
SANITARY FACILITIES
On the Wheels of Steel Area, there are barrier-free shower/toilet containers in addition to the standard sanitary stations. These are easily accessible via a ramp.
For further relief, handicapped accessible mobile toilets will be set up. Additional handicapped-accessible toilets are located throughout the site. These are marked on the site plan, which will be published shortly before the festival.
PHYSIOTHERAPY
We know that the festival can take a lot out of you physically. Especially in bad weather conditions it can be very exhausting to move across the field.
The physiotherapists provided through Alsterarbeit are available for you during the festival daily from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. A flexible appointment can be offered via the self-sufficient team. Please feel free to contact the therapists.
LIQUID OXYGEN
Liquid oxygen is provided through Alsterarbeit on the Wheels of Steel.
The trained team only fills mobile systems, so-called strollers.
To ensure that we can maintain the high safety standards during the filling process, it is essential that we are informed of the models and manufacturers in good time in advance. Alsterarbeit has an extensive network of medical equipment and is happy to provide support. Please register at: wacken@alsterarbeit.de
MOBILE POWERSTATION from Plug-in Festivals
No power? No problem! With the power flatrate from Plug-In Festivals you don't have to worry about electricity at the camp anymore. Book in advance and rent your power station at one of the six stations. You can then exchange it for a fully charged one as often as you like! More info HERE.
BREAKFAST TENT
The 250m2 pagoda of the Wheels of Steel Area, called the "Breakfast Tent", is accessible via a paved flagstone path and equipped with ramps on 3 sides. So you can easily get inside and order a small breakfast from Tuesday morning on. Besides a selection of our merchandise, you will also find a kiosk in the pagoda.
From soft drinks and beer to baguettes, toothpaste and shampoo. Everything a kiosk can offer at a festival will be ready for you.
DUHORN PHARMACY
If you don't want to take your medication to the festival, or even if you left it at home, the Duhorn pharmacy, located at Hauptstraße 44, is the right place to go. The entrance of the pharmacy is barrier-free and therefore usable for everyone without any problems.
Via the homepage of the Duhorn pharmacy, it is possible to pre-order medicines, which can then be picked up at a later date. There will be no delivery service to the festival area for this purpose.
Please also use the contact via the homepage of the Duhorn pharmacy:
Duhorn Apotheke Wacken in 25596 Wacken (duhorn-apotheke.de)
The Duhorn pharmacy is open during the festival at the following times:
Mon - Fri: 08:00 - 20:00
Sat: 08:00 - 18:00 o'clock
Stage Podes
In front of the stages there are platforms that allow a better view of the stages. These platforms are primarily reserved for wheelchair users.
Furthermore, there is space for persons with the letter "H" in their severely handicapped ID card. Please understand that the security staff will not allow escorts onto the platforms for the time being in the event of heavy traffic.
For better orientation, a site plan will also be provided for your cell phones via the Wacken App. (COMING SOON)
Only with you inclusion at the Wacken Open Air can be optimized. We are happy to receive questions, suggestions and criticism at any time at handicap@wacken.com.
