since the tickets for the Wacken Open Air 2022 were never on free sale due to the pandemic, there are some special things to keep in mind this year. We want to address the most common questions here.
The most important changes compared to last year are the introduction of our WackenID and the ticket center. We have added these points to the FAQ accordingly.
The Wacken Open Air 2022 will take place from 04.08.2022 to 06.08.2022. In addition, we celebrate the premiere of the Wacken Wednesday on 03.08.2022. For the Wacken Wednesday an additional ticket is needed.
To keep the costs low for both you and us, we have decided to use digital tickets for W:O:A 2022. This way there will be no postage costs and the handling will be easier.
All tickets will be personalized with first name and last name of the visiting person. In order to be able to pass on tickets, we will provide a function in our digital ticket center in time before the W:O:A 2022.
As always, a complete list will be available shortly before the festival. However, we are happy to announce that many highlights from W:O:A 2020 and W:O:A 2021 have been confirmed again already. You can find a list with all already announced acts here.
The WackenID is, or rather will be, your free master key for all offers in the Wacken cosmos. No matter if you want to manage your tickets, discuss in the forum, create your personal running order or order merchandising, in the future you can always use your WackenID for the login. IT experts call this a single sign-on procedure.
In the first step the WackenID is only needed to manage your tickets. Further services will be connected by us bit by bit. Of course, you can still use different logins for the different services.
Every Wacken Open Air 2022 ticket must be linked to a WackenID.
However, since several tickets can be managed in one account, not all visitors need to create their own WackenID. Also linking the account to other services like the W:O:A forum is not mandatory.
With the WackenID we secure the ticket management and increase your comfort. Many fans of our W:O:A-Universium use a variety of services with us and have created a separate account for each service. In the future, pressing the button "Register with WackenID" will make the registration oboslet in many cases.
You can continue to use the services with separate accounts. However, we will gradually offer ways to merge the existing accounts - on a voluntary basis, of course.
It is only necessary to provide an email address, a password and a unique username. All other information is voluntary, or will be requested depending on the service to fulfill the respective service.
An example from everyday life: If you order a merchandising article via the WackenID in the future, the address data will be passed on to our shipping service providers in the course of this, so that the package can be packed and shipped. If you do not start this order, however, no data will flow. And all partners do not receive more data than is necessary for the specific fulfillment. For example, the shipping service provider does not need your date of birth if you have provided it for another purpose.
The first purpose of the ticket center is the exchange from W:O:A 2021 to W:O:A 2022.
In addition, you can also manage your tickets here throughout the year. For example, you can change the personalization, book additional offers such as Wacken Wednesday or pass the tickets on to third parties. In the future, the ticket exchange will also be found here, as well as the download of the actual ticket.
Yes, every ticket for W:O:A has to be managed via the Wacken Ticketcenter. However, not every person has to be active himself, because several tickets can be combined in one account.
The vast majority of tickets for Wacken Open Air 2022 were originally ordered for the cancelled Wacken Open Air 2020, the ticket price of these tickets is therefore aligned with the performance scope of the planned Wacken Open Air 2020.
The additional band fees and the additional costs for staff, infrastructure and co. at Wacken Wednesday are not covered by this planning from summer 2019. An implementation without additional costs for the visitor would therefore only be possible through savings in the rest of the program and service.
However, since the additional day is supposed to be more of a supplement, we decided on an additional ticket.
Wacken Wednesday is an additional offer and limited to the infield of the Wacken Open Air. This has never been played on Wednesday in the past.
All other stages will be played on Wednesday as usual, because of the Wacken Wedneday no band will play less or shorter - but if you want, you will get even more.
The program for the remaining stages on Wednesday is currently still being booked and finalized. Therefore, we cannot make any statements about this at the moment.
Unfortunately, this often-heard wish has not been realizable so far. As organizers, we also have to deal with the wishes, needs and rights of local residents, communities and authorities, and these are often diametrically opposed to those of a festival visitor.
However, in recent years, together with you, we have been able to break down more and more inhibitions and fears. One result of these efforts is the permission to play the main stages on Wednesdays.
No, this is a one-time thing for now.
As with any innovation, we will look at this one critically and carefully evaluate all feedback from visitors, residents, authorities and bands. Only then will a decision be made about a possible repetition. Currently we are planning Wacken Wednesday as a once in a lifetime event.
