Liebe Metalheads,
der April neigt sich dem Ende entgegen, die Temperaturen steigen das erste Mal mehrere Tage am Stück auf über 20 Grad und die Grillsaison wurde ebenfalls eröffnet.
Das weckt natürlich den Hunger auf mehr und zwar genau... die Festivalsaison! Diese ist nur noch einen Katzensprung entfernt und auch die Vorbereitungen für das 22. Wacken Open Air kommen langsam aber sicher in die heisse Phase.
Doch wem es bis zum Fest immer noch zu lange dauert, dem können wir in dieser Woche die Wartezeit mit etwas Musik versüßen. Nicht mit irgendwelcher Musik natürlich, sondern mit der neuen Wacken-Hymne.
Dieses Jahr beigesteuert von den Herren von Grave Digger.

W:O:A Hymne 2011 – Wacken Will Never Die
Die Wacken Hymne bekommt seine dritte Auflage.
Auch in diesem Jahr wird das W:O:A von einer Hymne ins Gefecht begleitet. Nach Doro im Jahre 2009 und U.D.O. im Jahre 2010 schicken sich nun Grave Digger an das Wacken Open Air mit ihrer neuen Hymne „Wacken Will Never Die“ entsprechend zu präsentieren. Sänger Chris Boltendahl und seine Mannen treten dabei ohne Mühen in die Fußstapfen ihrer beiden Vorgänger und präsentieren eine weitere kraftvolle Hymne die den Spirit des Metal rund um das Wacken Open Air zu seinen Fans zu transportieren weiß.
Das gute Stück nebst der vorigen Hymnen von Doro und U.D.O. gibt es im Stream auf der MySpace-Seite und Facebook-Seite des W:O:A zu hören.
Die Hymne als käufliche Single wird es erstmals direkt auf Festivalgelände und danach überall im Handel geben
Die Einnahmen der Single gehen, wie auch im Vorjahr, an die Wacken Foundation

Green´n´Clean Award
Umweltfreundliche Festivals entsprechend der Green´n´Clean Richtlinien
Der Green´n´Clean Award hebt umweltfreundliche Festivals hervor, um mit dieser Initiative Maßgaben für mehr Energieersparnis und dem Schutz der natürlichen Ressourcen einzuführend und offen zu kommunizieren.
Musikfestivals haben einen großen Einfluss auf die Umwelt. Spaß an Festivals und die Zusammenkunft von großen Menschenmengen bringen Verkehr, Lärm, Wasser, Abwasser, Abfall und Treibhausgasemissionen mit sich.
Wir glauben, dass die Einführung von Maßgaben zur Minimierung des Umwelteinflusses auch dazu beiträgt, unserem Publikum einen möglichst angenehmen Festivalaufenthalt zu bieten.
Dies beinhaltet das Anbieten von öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln, die Nutzung von erneuerbaren Energien und die Reduzierung von Flugreisen zum Festivalort auf das Minimum.
Das Wacken Open Air Festival wurde mit dem internationalen Green´n´Clean Award ausgezeichnet.

Dear Metal heads,
April is drawing to a close and for the first time temperatures are rising above 20 degrees for a few days in a row and besides this the barbecue season is also opened.
This certainly awakes the hunger for the festival season which is only a stone´s throw from here and also the preparations for the 22nd Wacken Open Air are coming into the last phase.
For those who think it still does take too much time till Wacken we have some music to shorten the time till the beginning of the festival. Not any music but the new Wacken Hymn. This year written by the guys of Grave Digger.

W:O:A Hymn 2011 – Wacken Will Never Die
Wacken hymn gets it´s third issue
Also this year the W:O:A will be accompanied into battle by an appropriate hymn. Following Doro in 2009 and U.D.O in 2010 now Grave Digger will compose oneself to present the Wacken Open Air with their hymn “Wacken Will Never Die”. Vocalist Chris Boltendahl and his comrades follow in the footsteps of their two ancestors without any trouble and present another powerful hymn which knows how to transport the spirit of Wacken to their fans.
This piece of music can be pre-listened at the facebook and MySpace-Seite of W:O:A. There you can also listen to “We are the Metalheads” (Doro) and “Heavy Metal W:O:A” (U.D.O.)
The purchasable single will be available during the upcoming festival and in stores after the end of W:O:A 2011
As in the last year the Wacken Foundation will get all the receipts of the single.

Relentless Energy on board with the world’s biggest metal festival
Wacken, northern Germany – probably not the kind of place you’d expect to find the world’s largest metal gathering. But 21 years since its inception, the Wacken Open Air Festival remains an annual fixture in this small, sleepy town. Taking place from 4 - 6 August 2011, it's set to be another huge occasion.
The big guns come out
Headliners include the mighty Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, Motörhead, Avantasia, Children of Bodom, Suicidal Tendencies, Airbourne and Mayhem – enough to justify the ticket price alone. There are also various weird and wonderful curios worth checking out, like the annual opening show from the Wacken Firefighters. As their name would suggest, they’re fire-fighters who just happen to love metal and can thrash out a song or two.
Breaking new talent
On top of the established talent, aspiring metal acts have the chance to perform alongside their heroes thanks to the Wacken Open Air Metal Masters online video competition. This year Relentless Energy are on board to help spread the word and give this opportunity-of-a-lifetime contest their full backing. Bands that think they can cut it live can upload a video of themselves in action to the WackenTube website (check the link below). Users then vote on their favourites. The winners get a slot on the Wacken Wet Stage – also known as Headbanger’s Ballroom.
The festival is already sold out, but the Relentless Energy community have a chance to win a trip to this immense metal nirvana – keep your eyes peeled to the site and follow us on Facebook and Twitter to find out how around the beginning of June.

Environment-friendly Festival according to Green’n’Clean Guidelines
The Green’n’Clean Award distinguishes environment-friendly festivals. This initiative guarantees that measures to save energy and protect our natural resources are implemented and openly communicated.
Music festivals have a large impact on the environment. Traffic, noise, water, effluents, waste and greenhouse-gas emissions all come with the fun of the festival and the gathering of large crowds in general. We believe that by implementing measures to keep our environmental impact low, we can also provide our audience with a maximum of pleasure during its stay.
This includes making public transport available, using renewable energies and limiting air travel to a minimum
Our festival has been honoured with the international Green’n’Clean Award, which distinguishes environment-friendly festivals. This initiative guarantees that measures in the fields of sustainable management, transportation, waste management, energy efficiency and power, catering as well as purchasing are implemented. Protecting our natural resources and communicating these efforts to sponsors and the audience are key to being green and clean.
The Green’n’Clean Award was developed by Yourope – the European Festival Association.
