The classic, and for most of visitors the first choice for camping during the Wacken Open Air.
Many visitors also like to spend time here during the day! The mood and atmosphere on the W:O:A Campground is legendary.
If the ground conditions allow, vehicles can be parked so that you can camp right next to them.
Camping (whether in a tent, camper van, caravan, etc.) is included in the ticket price, as is the use of the showers and toilets, which are available in sufficient numbers.
Other components included in the ticket price are light poles and signposts as well as the breakfast tents, where you get traditional German breakfast foods and other foods.
The giant W:O:A Campground is located on agricultural land.
To make it easier to find your way around, we have marked the areas with letters and the paths on the W:O:A Campground between the different areas are also clearly signposted.
Each vehicle requires an Access Pass for the W:O:A Campground.

NEW 2026
SILENT DOOM
We all love loud guitar riffs, drums, and growls.
We love and live Heavy Metal – but sometimes, especially at night, we all need some peace and quiet too.
And that’s exactly why, in 2026, there will be the Silent Doom camping area.
In this area, we eliminate certain disturbances: no nighttime use of generators and a ban on boomboxes. After the final stage performance, absolute nighttime quiet applies here.
Of course, we can’t literally soundproof the area – but we can create an environment where Metalheads come together who share the same ideas about camping and rest.
Why are we doing this?
After numerous requests for a noise-reduced camping area over the past few years, we want to try it out in 2026 to see how you like it. Spaces are limited. We're eager to hear your feedback after the festival.
Silent Doom is located in the north‑west of the W:O:A Campground. The Camping Plaza can be reached within a 20‑minute walk. A general sanitation camp with toilets and showers, as well as a breakfast tent, can be found in the immediate vicinity.
Arrival is possible from the opening of the W:O:A Campground on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at 9:00 AM.
We’re looking forward to all Silent Doomers and wish you nothing but loud dreams in this new camping area.
LAST RESORT
OPENING HOURS: from Friday, July 31, 2026, 9 AM to Sunday, August 02, 2026, 12 PM
Last Resort is for everyone arriving by vehicle on Friday or Saturday who still want to camp close to the action.
In the past, arriving at the weekend usually meant being placed on a campsite far in the back.
Not anymore: Last Resort guarantees you a campsite with your vehicle close to the festival grounds and the Wacken Plaza – even if you arrive on Friday or Saturday.
Simply add a Friday or Saturday Access Pass to your festival ticket and enjoy a guaranteed camping spot.
Metalheads arriving by public transport will always find a campsite close to the Wacken Plaza!
The following rules must be observed on the W:O:A Campground:
Drinks and food
Drinks and food may be brought in unlimited quantities - please dispose of the garbage.
Access
Only people with a valid ticket are allowed to enter the W:O:A site.
Vehicles
Camping takes place directly at the vehicle.
Tents & pavilions
The size and number of tents should be appropriate to the size of the group. A 6-person tent should also be occupied by 6 people - and not alone.
Power generators
Important: Generators must be in perfect working order and please show consideration for other campers.
No glass
Due to the high risk of injury and fire, glass is prohibited on the entire site!
Rules for larger vehicles and special permits
Regulations for vehicles over 7.5 tons
Please note that vehicles and trailers over 3.5 tons represent a considerable additional effort for us, especially in poor ground conditions.
Vehicles weighing 7.5 tons or more must register with us in advance. A separate camping area will be kept as free as possible for these vehicles.
