Mawiza
“If necessary, we will die to defend our land!” – if anyone hears this statement from the Chilean Groove Metal juggernaut Mawiza and still expects some lukewarm Eco-Metal gathering, they clearly underestimated the raw ancestral power of these Mapuche warriors. Originally formed in 2014, the band completely discards Spanish and English, screaming exclusively in their indigenous native tongue, Mapuzungun. This fierce authenticity didn't just win over the world-renowned label Season of Mist, it also caught the attention of Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier, who wasted no time inviting the guys to his New York studio and laying down guest vocals on their latest concept album. Fusing Heavy Modern Metal, indigenous rhythms, and industrial-tinged grooves, Mawiza have already leveled tens of thousands of fans while supporting giants like Mastodon and Mercyful Fate, as well as crushing the stage at Knotfest. These gentlemen are sweeping straight out of the Chilean rainforests into the Landgasthof to show you the true, uncompromising meaning of resistance in Metal.
