Information about Green Wacken 2025 on World Environment Day!

Created by WackenHelge
06/05/2025

Today is World Environment Day – the perfect opportunity for us to draw your attention to our Green Wacken campaign! In addition to tried-and-tested initiatives like the Trash Mobiles, there are several new initiatives in the Green Wacken cosmos in 2025!

For us, sustainability is a continuous process that is integrated into all workflows and departments in order to fully address the issue. Over the past few years, we have therefore intensively analysed the various areas in which we operate and have identified four focus topics on which our measures for more sustainability are aimed and on which we are working together with the entire crew: Ressource management, energy production, mobility and well-being. We are loud at work to make a change and want to grow and develop Green Wacken together with you.

What's new in 2025?

  • Waste separation on the camping areas (distribution of black and yellow garbage bags at the band collection point, separation of paper, plastics, and residual waste at the various waste stations. Waste stations are marked on the visitor map and can be reached on foot from everywhere)
  • Ballot bins (cigarette butts do not belong on the ground, as they are particularly harmful). We are seeing a trend and know that most people use pocket ashtrays, but we would like to encourage this even further by setting up voting containers.
  • Goldeimer (separating toilets on the festival grounds, processing of waste into fertilizer for agricultural land, flat rates now bookable)
  • Free shuttle bus (to and from Itzehoe train station for everyone with a regular W:O:A ticket)
  • Viva con Agua (returning, collecting cup deposits on the event areas)
  • Supply of solar energy to the majority of the tents at Residenz Evil (approx. 1,200m² solar)
  • Labeling of vegetarian and vegan dishes on the on-site menus

Of course, we'll also be running the #greenwacken2025 campaign again.

You can find all the information about our sustainability programs and what's new in 2025 on green.wacken.com!
