Important information: Arrival, weather conditions and risk of fire

Dear Metalheads,

The odds are pretty good that this year’s Wacken Open Air will be all about dry and hot weather! So, we are looking forward to welcoming you in Wacken! Before you start your journey please read the following points carefully and take action:

At home & arrival:

• Please check if your cars lose any liquids and how much heat they emit on the ground. Hot exhausts got the potential to initiate fires! Watch your vehicles after your arrival in Wacken until they have fully cooled down.

• Take a suitable fire extinguisher with you – there is no quicker way of first aid in case of fire than a private fire extinguisher which can avoid further damage.

• Please form a corridor for emergency vehicle access as early as possible if there is heavy traffic during your arrival.

• Do not park your vehicles in front of emergency routes or exits on the campground – otherwise they will be forcefully removed by our security team.

In Wacken:

• Please drink enough water! We have increased the number of free water supply stations to ensure that everybody has quick access to drinking water to stay hydrated.

• Apply sunscreen frequently. Please notice: Spray bottles are forbidden all around the stages. Please use sun lotion in bottles with a filling capacity up to 100ml.

• Protect your heads from the sun and the heat to prevent sunburns and sunstrokes! Protect your face from dust by using masks that cover mouth and nose. Tip: If you do not own a mask – you can purchase them on Metaltix or at our Merchandise booths for just a few cents.

• Glass is forbidden in the entire W:O:A area – Besides the risk of injury it can function as a burning glass and initiate fire.

• Open fires are completely prohibited!

• Please do not dispose of cigarettes or other glowing objects. Use proper ashtrays or other collecting trays.

• Please avoid piles of waste – the material mix can catch fire easily. Deposit your waste at the designated places instead.

• Report all fires no matter how small they are to our W:O:A staff or the firefighters. You can also use the telephone number 112 for help.

• Do not only care for yourself – have an eye on your neighbours and other Metal Heads and offer help if needed. To inform yourself about first signs of a heatstroke, click here.

BBQ:

• In general, barbecues are permitted! Please be cautious as always and keep in mind.

• Stay sober while having barbecue – you can avoid serious injuries!

• Keep a safe distance to other tents, vehicles and to the ground (especially in case of single-use barbecues).

• Place your barbecues on a stable surface.

• Place fire extinguishing devices.

• Supervise glowing charcoal and ashes at all times – extinguish them before leaving the campground.

• Please dispose ashes and charcoal only if they are completely cooled down. Even seemingly cooled down ashes are a risk.

• Barbecue lighter of every kind should used as lightly as possible. Please do not use liquid barbecue lighters if possible to avoid severe burns and deflagrations.

• Please make sure that gas barbecues other gas installations work properly including all valves and tubes. Close the gas feed after usage.
